Running the club
How is the club managed?
St Alban’s Players is run by its committee and governed by its constitution.
The committee is elected at the AGM and members serve for two or three years depending on their role.
The committee meets most months and is responsible for the club’s theatrical and social programme, finances, fundraising, membership and publicity.
Who decides which plays to do?
The committee, but any club member can suggest a play for consideration. Often members suggest a play that they would like to direct.
Sometimes suggested plays are read at a club night so that the potential director, club and committee members can get more of a feel for the work.
Who are the patrons and life members?
Patrons support the Players by paying an annual subscription of £8. They receive a discount on tickets, are invited to our social events and mailed copies of Greasepaint – the club’s newsletter.
Life members are recommended by the committee and elected at the AGM. They’re people who have provided the club with long, distinguished and dedicated service.
Life members do not have to pay the club’s annual subscription, but are fully involved in all aspects of the Players’ activities and can vote at the AGM.
