Adrian as The Dame in Sleeping Beauty

About us

The Players have been presenting high-quality amateur theatre in Bristol’s Westbury Park area since 1973.

Spring 2011 saw our production of ‘California Suite’, which played to good houses and received a favourable critique from the Rose Bowl adjudicator.

We enjoyed a summer break and started our new season with a garden party in September.  Then it was straight into rehearsals for our production of “Hobson’s Choice”, directed by Edwina Lloyd.  This gave many opportunities for actors and technical crew and we welcomed several new members into the team.  Once again, we had good audiences and hope to have raised a generous sum to send to our charity of the year – Great Western Air Ambulance Service.  We have just received a glowing report from the Rose Bowl adjudicator so congratulations to all involved.

We held two very successful Theatre Workshop evenings when two original plays, written by members were given a trial run.  Both plays were received well and we have decided to enter both for the Bristol One-Act Festival and also the Avon One-Act Festival. Rehearsals are now under way for “Georgie Boy” and “Conkers”.

If you are interested in joining our group you would be very welcome to attend our next Theatre Workshop will be held at St. Alban’s Church Hall at 7:30p.m. January 18th. The company will be reading a play, possibly a Coward, to be considered for our spring production. We are very pleased that Geoffrey Crass has agreed to direct it.

Audition dates to be confirmed…so keep an eye on the web site!
